DISCOVER! Who you are…What you can become…How you can serve…
Children and teens reinforce their academic skills, enhance physical ability, learn discipline, develop social skills, explore career possibilities, and have fun in structured, safe and supervised activities at the Dryades Y.
In 2014, approximately 1,500 youth participate in supervised, structured and safe educational, recreational and personal development program initiatives in multiple parishes. These programs are designed to nurture academic improvement, develop physical skills, instill discipline, teach social skills, explore career choices, promote leadership development, foster global awareness and enhance vocational training.
The goals of the Youth Development Outreach Initiative are three-fold:
* Improve student outcomes on standardized tests and overall academic performance
* Increase student on-task time
* Enhance personal, life and social skill
The Dyades Y is applying for the 21st Century CCLC Grant
Last year, more than 1,457 (unduplicated) youth took part in supervised and safe, off-the-streets programs. The programs are designed to nurture academic improvement, enhance physical skills and discipline, teach social skills through organized clubs, and explore employment and career choices and training.
Thanksgiving 2013: 1,000 baskets of food were delivered to families during the holidays, with the help of the New Orleans Saints players, who provided support for the program.
Please donate to the Dryades YMCA; your generosity goes a long way to helping the families of our community. You may also support this effort by giving to the United Way.
